Ceramic sculptures and vessels. I take my ideas from modern architecture as I walk around cities. I like the juxtaposition of modern buildings with old, the ugly next to the beautiful. The repetition of shapes: circular versus rectangular high rise structures, the rhythm of squares, circles and grids are what I explore in clay.

I make slab built ceramics, often using found objects that I roll into clay before placing the slabs around moulds, boxes, found objects that inform the shapes. I gather ideas from photos taken of buildings, I like the interplay of nature with the man made, like reflections of trees on high rise building windows, for example. The translation of images from photos to drawings, from thoughts to paper often become more abstract. The confines of city life and the juxtaposition of natural forms to man made forms are ideas I explore in clay .
