My intention is to develop my work through a constant exploration of drawing. I observe the world around me as a starting point but also include my imagination and knowledge of art history to make compositions which are about the struggle between a three dimensional world and a rectangular flat ground. I use a variety of mediums, often experimenting and mixing mediums.These include watercolour and pen, pastel and charcoal as well as oils and acrylic.I use my exploratory drawings as a starting point for my more developed canvas paintings. I always carry a sketch book, looking for inspiration from the places,people and objects around me.Life and portrait studies are included in the many images which hold my attention. I trained at Camberwell and Birmingham schools of art many years ago and have been drawing and painting ever since.
